Android Ad Impression Share Beyond Apple iOS for the 3rd Time
Latest data from Mobile ad network company Millenial Media shows that Google Android system has exceeded Apple iOS for the third time in February and has become the most popular smartphone operating system according to its ad impression market share.
Millenial Media data shows that the ad impression share of Android system was 51% in February this year, slightly lower than 54% in January. Last December the ad impression share of Android system was 46%, beyond Apple iOS market share for the first time.
In February this year, iOS ad impression share was 27%, 1 percentage point lower than that in January, ranks in the second place right now. RIM ranks thirdly with market share of 14% over the January increase of 3 percentage points. In addition, Symbian market share is 2% while Windows Phone has 1%.
Despite defeated by Google in advertising impression, Apple still keeps the title of the largest smartphone manufacturer on Millenial Media network. Divided by manufacturers’ impression, the impression share of Apple was 28% in February this year, continued to lead the list, followed by Samsung and HTC.
Specific to devices, Apple iPhone ranks the first with 16.75% share. Samsung and HTC also perform well: there are 3 new Samsung smartphones ranked in top 30, while HTC has 7 devices inside and RIM has 6 finalists. In top 30, Android devices account for 19 models and had 16 in January this year.
Divided by operators, impression share of four major mobile operators in the United States have all exceeded 10% in Millenial Media network, of which 20% impression share of Verizon ranks the first and Sprint ranks the second with 13%.
